The Legion of Mary is an international lay Catholic origanization founded in Dublin, Ireland, by Frank Duff on September 7, 1921. Its aim is to serve the Church and promote the spiritual growth of its members through prayer, spiritual works of mercy, and apostolic service to the faithful and the less fortunate. Members, known as Legionaries, typically work in pairs, meeting weekly for prayer and to carry out assigned tasks, such as visiting hospitals, the sick, and the homebound. The Legion draws inspiration from Mary and is dedicated to advancing the reign of Christ through her.
